Unity Healthcare is a specialty endocrinology and diabetes clinic based in Surrey, BC, dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care for people living with hormonal and metabolic conditions.
Our mission is to help you understand your condition, participate in decisions, and achieve better health with a team by your side rather than a single doctor visit.
We are closely affiliated with the University of British Columbia and Surrey Memorial Hospital, combining academic medicine, clinical care and research under one roof.
We work together to build a clear plan for you – from diagnostics to medication choices, nutrition, physical activity, and technology such as continuous glucose monitoring and connected blood pressure or glucose devices. Our collaborative model has been recognized with the Fraser Health Innovator Award for uniting pharmacists and physicians to improve quality of life for people with type 2 diabetes and cancer.

Akshay Jain
MD, FRCPC, FACE, CCD, ECNU, DABOM
Dr. Jain completed his Internal Medicine residency in Rochester, NY, where he became the only four-time winner of the Rochester Academy of Medicine Awards, followed by an Endocrinology fellowship at Harbor-UCLA/City of Hope in Los Angeles.
Key highlights:
- First Canadian physician to be triple board-certified by the American Boards in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
- Co-author of the 2025 Obesity Canada pharmacotherapy guideline chapter and the 2023 Diabetes Canada guideline chapter on mental health and diabetes.
- Only non-American physician to receive the AACE Rising Star in Endocrinology Award and to be named among Medscape’s “Top 25 Rising Stars of Medicine.”
